Healthcare

The pressures in healthcare provision are substantial and increasing competition, government regulations, cost controls, and demands for higher quality patient care is causing a load on systems that healthcare institutions find difficult to manage.

Accurate patient information and availability of that information when it's required is a must. In healthcare organizations, patient information is a combination of sources including standard records, images and notes.

The eFLOW Unified Content Platform is a family of data capture and forms processing solutions that empowers healthcare providers, its patients and business partners to collaborate successfully - anywhere, anytime. The eFLOW Unified Content Platform will enable healthcare institutions to collect, verify and use critical content and data that is entering the organization in order to drive the enterprise.

Information listed on structured forms and documents such as patient records, lab analysis requests, patient admission forms, employee time sheets and others can be captured faster and more accurately and delivered to the enterprise applications that provide service and patient information.

eFLOW easily performs forms processing and handles common semi-structured business transaction documents, such as invoices, purchase orders, credit notes and others, that form part of the normal class of business transactions among trading partners.

And eFLOW provides a crucial document capture mobile link for caregivers and healthcare providers in the field providing them with wireless mobile access to critical information in databases, as well as the capability to transmit information collected in the field.

eFLOW improves accuracy, speeds processing and eliminates much of the manually labor which would be required, thanks to automatic data capture. For the healthcare institution this translates into better patient care and services, reduced costs and improved margins.

NHS Trusts

There are a number of identifiable benefits that a NHS Trust could realise through the deployment of document and content management solutions. Three key applications are identified for the clinical side of Health Trust operations:

  • Clinical Governance
  • Electronic Care Plans
  • Medical Records

This is mainly about making the appropriate information available at the right time to the right people and is key in addressing issues regarding clinical negligence for which every Trust has to pay hefty insurance premiums for cover. There are examples of deaths being attributed to a Trust’s lack of systems to support the necessary sharing of information with other parts of the Health Service.

Medical Records
There are two levels of deployment for Medical Record solutions, the first being a simple archive and retrieval system whereby the current paper based filing system can be captured and indexed as scanned images. The second and more beneficial level of deployment is to provide clinicians access the records for patients when and where they are needed.

Care Plans
This is a key requirement and a matter of compliance to Department of Health regulations. All trusts are assessed and must have an effective Electronic Care Plan solution in place to achieve the required 3 Star rating and to provide for reduction of risk, increased efficiency and customer service on the road to a ‘Joined Up Care Service’.
